Tuesday 1/Apr/2008 the regional office of WHO in the Eastern Mediterranean Region Regulates the meeting in preparation for launching Marathon stopped launched to combat smoking in most countries in the region, the meeting aims to: 1- Support the initiation of the marathon in other countries; 2- Engage other relevant agencies in the activity, such as the Arab Scouts; and 3- Plan for the start of the marathon on the WNTD in as many countries as possible in the Region. This meeting will be on 8 / 9 - April in 2008 for the presence of representatives from each State Egypt - Libya - Tunisia - Syria - Qatar

Wednesday9/4/2008 Ended Session on International Marathon on Tobacco Control, EMRO, Cairo, 8-9 April 2008 that aims to: 1- Support the initiation of the marathon in other countries; 2- Engage other relevant agencies in the activity, such as the Arab Scouts; and 3- Plan for the start of the marathon on the WNTD in as many countries as possible in the Region. it was agreed by all participants that a national marathon should take place on 31 May 2008; and that this marathon would carry the message of tobacco control. The organization of the marathon will take place at the national level in close collaboration with the WR’s Office.
